Saturday, 25th January saw Ferndown's Celts take on their 'Auld' Enemy, the Sassenachs!
This annual competition has delivered some fantastic matches over the years, and 2025 was no exception!
One day, 68 players, 34 pairs, and two teams, led by Greg Towns (Celts' Captain) and Steve Sidney (Sassenachs' Captain), battled it out on the course.
After the matches were drawn and breakfast enjoyed, the two teams competed over 18 holes, playing 4BBB matchplay.
In the end, the Sassenachs triumphed with a 10.5 to 6.5 victory, bringing home the win for their team!
Following the golf, everyone gathered for a traditional Burns Supper, serenaded by a piper playing his 'Piob Mhor' (or Big Pipe—well, Bagpipes!) for us Sassenachs! Many thanks to Gordon Baillie who conducted the 'Address to the Haggis' before everyone sat down to enjoy a delicious 4-course meal celebrating a great day of golf.
Special thanks go to everyone who helped organise the day, to Danny and his team of Greenkeepers for ensuring the course was playable despite the challenging conditions throughout the week, and to Will and his team for providing excellent food and service throughout the day!
